Isidor Buchmann grew up in a conservative farming community in Switzerland. From early
childhood, he was fascinated with radio communication and received a post-graduate education
in radio technology in Lucerne. He immigrated to Canada where he began pursuing work in
electronics, and then got married.
When the career prospects did not materialize, Isidor
pooled the savings and started his own company. In a small room at home, he worked on his
inventions long into the night while raising a large family. As the business became
self-sufficient, his wife became mentally unstable and caused family dysfunction. Isidor tried
to fulfill God's command in marriage, but with her spiraling into the darkness of mental
illness and the family hopelessly falling apart, he made the difficult choice to divorce.
Breaking up a once flourishing marriage and abandoning the beloved spouse induced
heart-wrenching guilt feelings.
Isidor’s friends saw divorce as a collision with Christian values and a rift developed between
them. Trying to justify his position, he began writing. God’s Grace in Divorce steps outside
textbook teaching and underscores the importance of raising a functional family, albeit as a
single parent when so necessary. Writing the book provided closure by sharing the experience
with others. A strong believer in marriage, Isidor sympathizes with folks who are misunderstood
because of divorce.
Isidor is the father of five grown children and lives in Burnaby, BC, Canada (suburb of
Vancouver), where he is CEO of Cadex Electronics Inc. The company manufactures advanced battery
test devices that are sold worldwide. Isidor has written articles for over 200 trade magazines,
including one that was an award winner. His book Batteries in a Portable World — A Handbook on
Rechargeable Batteries for Non-Engineers made him a best-selling author. (A new edition is on
its way). Isidor is also the author of www.BatteryUniversity.com and www.buchmann.ca. |
